The Ursa Major Moving Group

With several weeks of winter to go before warmer weather arrives, ‘quick-look’ stargazing has been the observing method of choice for many sky watchers. While frigid temperatures discourage folks from cold weather stargazing, hearty souls take advantage of winter’s earlier sundown times and higher percentage of clear nights.

Past articles have featured some interesting and easy to find targets that look great to the unaided eye or through binoculars. My top picks include: the Perseus Double Cluster, the Pleiades, the Hyades, the star Sirius and the constellation Orion.
